I put together a video of some of the latest trends I’m excited to wear this spring. But what is the use of videos of trends if you have to shop or see how you’ll style them in real life?
So, just like the title suggests, here’s how to take these trends from the catwalk to your closet and how to wear them in real life and not just regulate them to the runway.
I’m not saying your wardrobe needs to be dominated by trends, but having a spring cheat sheet is always handy. With some of the pieces/trends you might have in your wardrobe already, you might discover some fresh, new styling combos to bring your pieces into the new season. Ideal.
Red Hot
From scarlet to deep, dark cherry, any red hue will do, or that’s what designers like Gucci and Valentino thought. I adore the monochromatic styling working for the runway, but take it off the catwalk and into your closet via pops of red through knitwear, shoes, and statement scarlet outerwear.
How to wear:
Precious Cargo
Practical, chic and perfect for spring, utility is one trend that works for weekends, work or evenings. Trust me, play up the inherent casualness of the multi-pocket pieces with sleek separates and slingbacks.
How to wear:
Get Shirty
One of the simplest ways to bring spring into your wardrobe? With a striped shirt, of course. The catwalk and high street also think so, as you’ll find the stripey style everywhere.
How to wear:
Chic Sportif
Go faster stripes to luxe bombers, track tops to rugby shirts, sportswear has gone luxe. The way to make this work in your wardrobe is by pairing unexpected pieces together - bombers over full skirts or track pants with blazers.
How to wear:
Sky Blue Thinking
Pastels are notoriously associated with spring, just as much as florals are. But this season, one hue dominates above the rest of the confectionary choices - sky blue. It’s a the perfect partner to red, white and bright citrus shades.
How to wear:
90s Redux
Forget blingtastic Y2k; the minimalist side of the 90s decade is in, so think pinstripes, sleek tailoring, pared-back silhouettes, and a muted colour palette. Basically, quiet luxury with a 90s twist.
